We are dedicating ten seats in our newly refurbished venues to Brighton Dome legends such as David Bowie, Ella Fitzgerald and Maya Angelou.
Join our heroes and help us inspire new generations of artists and audiences.
As well as restoring breath-taking and previously hidden heritage features of the Corn Exchange, the major refurbishments will provide increased capacity seating, a magnificent new viewing gallery and a creative space for artists to rehearse and develop work. Major improvements to the Studio Theatre - once a supper room - will include balcony seating, new bar facilities and a street level café opening out onto New Road.
In recognition of your support, your name – or a nominated name – will be inscribed on a seat plaque in the Corn Exchange or Studio Theatre. Following your donation, we will contact you to choose your seat location.
- £600 retractable seating
- £1,200 fixed balcony seating
- £1,800 front row fixed balcony seating
‘I am naming a seat in the Studio Theatre as a local business owner, to support this inspiring project in the heart of the city, and a way for me to give back to the town I grew up in’ Clare Rogers, The Treatment Rooms
If you would like to name a seat but prefer to spread payment by direct debit from just £25 a month, please call 01273 260818 or email email@example.com. Or download and return our Seat Appeal form.
Plaques will be positioned on the back of seats in most cases. There are a few seats in the balcony where this is not possible due to the seating layout, and in these cases the plaque will be positioned either on the wall directly behind or on the balustrade directly in front.
All inscriptions will remain on the seats for 20 years, after which Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival may need to remove or replace the seating.
You can choose whether your seat will be in the Corn Exchange or Studio Theatre. You can also let us know your preference within your chosen price range and we will try to accommodate your choice (please note, this is subject to availability at time of donation).
We can’t guarantee you’ll be able to sit in your dedicated seat. However, if you book for a performance well in advance and advise the box office, it may be possible. As our venues are flexible spaces, dependant on the art-form, not all seats will be visible at every event.
We are in the process of confirming plaque size, style and design. We are working towards an approximate plaque size allowing 22 characters per line (44 characters in total across two lines), including spaces.
Once the plaque size, style and design has been confirmed we will ask you to complete a form to let us know your dedication. We will then send a letter to confirm we have the correct details.
Yes, if it is within the character limit, but there are some exclusions. These include logos, quotes, symbols and any dedication political in nature or liable to cause offence, therefore Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival reserves the right to request an alternative dedication.
The redevelopment is due to be completed in 2019 and we will be inviting all our seat supporters to a launch event nearer the time of opening.
